The clinical assessment is an OSCE exam that you may be required to pass before you can be accepted onto the 2-year Foundation programme.
If you qualified from medical school 2 years prior to the start of the Foundation programme or if you have not completed a post-graduate clinical internship, you must pass this assessment before you can be accepted onto the foundation programme.
Passing the PLAB licensing exam is not regarded as a substitute for the Clinical Assessment.
The Clinical Assessment is a requirement of the UK Foundation Programme. PLAB, however, is a requirement of the GMC.
Applicants who are required to undertake a clinical assessment will be required to pay the full cost of £850 and this is non-refundable.
The assessments will be undertaken by Manchester University NHS Foundation Trust.
